En dat zullen we weten ook. Elk zichzelf respecterend bedrijf in The Gambia koopt een hele pagina om de President persoonlijk te feliciteren. Met foto en al. De meest pathetische tekst komt van “Foam Manufacturing Ltd”: ‘Your love and hopes for The Gambia are reflected in your continues effort to further develop and promote The Gambia’. De meest populaire tekst echter, is deze: ‘As you reflect on and celebrate this very important day we, individually and collectively pray for the full realisation of all your aspirations for this great nation of ours and also supplicate strongly for the successful hosting of the 52 heads of States of our beautiful continent.’ (Dat laatste slaat op de komende top van de Afrikaanse Unie in juni.)
